What I need in the grocery store are some imitation Brussels sprouts and imitation okra that are actually made of chicken. Where is the "veggie alternatives" aisle?
Nice piece, Liza - I suspect some sort of deep state conspiracy is involved with the fake chicken, which used a “q” - everyone knows the letter “q” is not to be trusted.
Seems like you've outed the pant-based foods that are celebrating the trans trend just in time for Pride Week. But as for marketing, are these foods plants that identify as meat, or thoroughly modern meats that are concealing their plants in drumstick molds covered with crispy breading? In my Trader Joe's I noticed a can of jackfruit was trying to pass as pulled pork.
